I opened an account with Barclays when I wanted a different current account to attach some direct debits to for bills each month, and I was so surprised at how easy the whole process was. I went onto their website and looked through their range of basic accounts, and once I had selected which one I wanted to apply for, I could just do everything online, and I got an instant decision. I didn’t have to print out any forms and waste time going into the branch, I was given my account details as soon as I received confirmation on the screen.
The account also comes with some features that I have never found with any other bank. I have a fantastic debit card that I designed myself by uploading a photograph, and I have a really handy app called Pingit, which enables me to transfer money to anyone with a mobile, they don’t even have to be a Barclays customer.
I also love the contactless payment cards that Barclays have coined. For any small purchases, up to £20, I just need to hover the card over a compatible machine, and you’ll be surprised at how many shops have them now, and it goes through straight away.
