Pros: convenient
Cons: high interest

Ever since I left for university I caught the travelling bug, now I try and see new places and travel abroad as much as possible. It was during a trip across Australia however, that I got quite stuck when it came to using my bank account debit card. Even though I did inform my bank that I was going away and where I was going, they saw the activity on my card as fraudulent, and they put a block on it. It took me quite a long time to find an internet connection in order to get a telephone number to call them on, to go through the security checks and clear the card again.

This happened a few times afterwards, so I decided for my next trip I would make sure I had a credit card that firstly would be accepted everywhere abroad, but wouldn’t cause me any problems with blocking, and wouldn’t cost me any more money.

I opted for the Nationwide credit card, as not only did they offer commission free use when travelling, based on what I spent on it here, but they also offered some great extras. I could get money off at restaurants, at some high street shops and the best of all was offers with airline parking, which was perfect for a traveller like me!
