I decided to open a current account with Natwest Bank about seven years ago, I started with a very basic account which was then upgraded, and then I was offered a Select Silver Account on a trial basis, which came with a few different benefits such as travel insurance around Europe, for a monthly fee. I entered into a long complaint with Natwest after finding out they were charging me for the account even though I was told I would have three months for free, and they did give me my money back and token of apology. It was handy to have the travel insurance as I was just about to go on holiday, but apart from that I didn’t think it was worth the hassle.
Today I have a regular free current account with them, which I find great, apart from one really irritating feature when it comes to online banking. Whenever I want to transfer some money online or pay someone new, I have to place my card in this horrible plastic card reader they have sent me, to get a code to enter. This has really annoyed me as I don’t now consider it mobile banking, if I have to carry this silly card reader around with me everywhere I go in case I need to make a transfer.
