I like the idea of body oil more than the actual product. It seems very sensual and luxurious, but it can also be pretty messy and slippery and takes ages to properly absorb. The Body Shop Brazil Nut Beautifying Oil is a little bit different, though. It's a dry oil, which means that while it goes on normally like other oils, it dries and absorbs into the skin quickly, making it far less messy than it's oily relatives.
A little bit goes a long way
Illuminates and softens my skin
To be quite honest, this purchase was more about trying to fill my cart to get the free shipping for my online order than really wanting the Beautifying Oil, but now that I have it, I'm not regretting it. Firstly, it smells so yummy and scrumptious, like nutty toffee or salted caramel. The Brazil Nut fragrance is much more complex in the dry oil than in other Brazil Nut products from The Body Shop, which was a very welcome surprise. I already loved that particular scent, but I find it's even stronger and more interesting in the oil.
The Beautifying Oil can be used in a couple different ways- on your body, your face, or in your hair, and after trying all three, I'm pretty impressed. I was very skeptical of putting an oil on my face and not feeling oily, but it just made my skin feel very soft. I only tried it on my cheeks, which tend to be drier than my T-Zone, so I'd probably only use it as an intensive moisturizer for areas that need it.
When applied to my hair it definitely calmed my frizzy ends, but also made my hair feel a bit limp. I find there's a fine line with using any oil-based product in my hair- too little and it doesn't tame the flyaways enough, but too much and it weighs it down and eventually makes it feel greasy.
I think for me, the best use for the Brazil Nut Beautifying Oil is on my body. Unlike other oils I've tried, it gave my skin a softness, a healthy glow, and a smooth, silky feeling without staying on top of my skin for ages. It absorbs very quickly, so I don't have to sit around drying for an hour before I can get dressed.
My ultimate thought on this dry oil is that I really like it, and I love that it can be used for several different uses, but at the same time, for me it's not really a product I need for any specific reason. I'm glad I have it, but I don't know if I'll bother getting it again (unless it's on sale!).
