Pros: hands free, inexpensive, lots of free apps, no contract, plays music, voice commands
Cons: slow to update and download apps, sometimes drops calls

I have to admit, I was a little behind in stepping into the Smartphone world of technology. I am very tech savvy when it comes to computers and software but always felt that a cell phone was for making calls and sending an occasional text message. I always had access to the internet at work and home so why did I need a computer in my pocket? Then my cute little purple flip phone fried up on me in a lightning storm. I really didn't have many options, so I decided it was time for me to get my first Smartphone.

Since I was out of contract with my old provider, I figured I would make some changes to save me a few bucks a month while I was at it. I had been thinking about going pre-pay for a while and this seemed like the time to make the move. I chose Virgin Mobile and I chose the LG Optimus Elite

mainly because the price was right. I was very happy with my choice. At first it was mind boggling that my phone was a mini laptop of sorts since it could do just about everything the laptop could. Once I found out I could voice all of my commands, I was super content with the device.

The phone runs on an Android software and gives me thousands of apps to choose form. Most of them are free. While I never thought I would need to or want to check my Facebook or email or have the need to share pictures with friends, now I don't know how I ever lived without it. OK, that's a bit over the top but you know what I mean. There are a few things that aren't perfect. The apps can take a long time to download and update and since it is a pre-pay account, I sometimes drop calls or find that I have no service in some remote areas. Recently I took a long road trip and tried out the navigation app. I couldn't believe that I was getting that service plus so much more included in my monthly charge, which is also quite pleasing, to my pocketbook.

Having the pre-pay keeps me free from a contract and lets me change my plan according to my needs every month. I now own an updated device and I am paying half of what I was paying with my old flip phone. I am kind of happy that that phone fried up.

I have had a few phones in my day. And I only bought this one because it was relatively inexpensive, and I needed a phone bad. As of right now I of right now I have had this phone for about 6 months. It seemed fine the first month and from there it's goes down hill. Read more
