I spent a lot of time trying to decide which tablet to buy. When I say a lot of time, I really mean it. I'm not one to splurge on electronics, especially ones I really don't need, but I wanted a tablet for a long time, so I decided it would be a present to myself.
Let me start with the bad. I love everything about the Kindle Fire HDX 7" except for the speakers. With the volume on the highest setting it's still not loud enough to hear. Okay, games are fine, but if I put on Hulu or something to watch on my desk while I'm working, I can't hear any speaking over my typing. I did see a lot of complaints over the speakers in the reviews, but I sort of figured people were being too picky.
Now for the good! The picture quality is brilliant. It is probably better than my TV, and I love that there is no glare. It is also very fast, and it was effortless to connect to my home's Wi-Fi. I just had to plug in my password, and that was it.
I wasn't sure how I would like reading books on it because I love paperback books, but I appreciate that this is a much more environmentally friendly option. I still prefer cookbooks in their physical form though.
I have only played a few games on it, and I haven't used Word, Excel, etc., yet, so I can't really say much about these features. To be honest, I've barely tapped into the available options, but I will eventually. It says it charges fully in six hours, but mine has never taken more than a couple hours to get a full charge. The battery life is awesome.
If you want a tablet that is very versatile and fast with great display quality and a ton of options, I would definitely recommend checking out the Fire HDX.
