Pros: big cans, doesn't smell or look like dog food, dogs like it
Cons: not the healthiest of dog foods
We buy this for the dogs at my parents house. We have two miniature schnauzers, both are pretty picky and anxious eaters. They are very protective of their food, so we try to buy the big cans of food in order to give them both a helping at a time without going through food too quickly. Since my one dog is older, he has a hard time chewing on hard kibble so my mom likes to give him this Pedigree wet food. She buys them a variety of flavors, but they seem to like the country stew the best. They also like the stew with lamb. We just open the can and pour half into each of their dishes around dinner time and they scarf it up pretty quickly. I know they could be eating healthier brands of dog food, but seeing as they are both pretty picky it is hard to buy something with the intent to just try it out and see if they like it. So, we continue to buy this Pedigree product because we know they like it. The food itself varies in smell and consistency depending on the type of food we buy. Most of they have chunks of meat with some vegetables in a thick gravy. They don't smell too bad, and they actually look like they'd be edible for humans also. We will continue to buy this product for our dogs!
The first thing you need to look for when buying any dog food is the AAFCO statement. You want a dog food that meets the daily nutritional requirements set out by AAFCO and you will see from the pictures below that Pedigree has that. I fed Pedigree to my dogs for years. Read more
