Pros: made in usa
Cons: too hard and thick to chew

Reading the reviews on Amazon, I thought for sure this product was just going to blow me (and my dog) away. Sad to say neither of us is fond of the product.

My senior Alaskan Malamute is a giant and weighs 158 pounds. So, now that he is older, I keep him on a joint supplement. That's a big body to be supported by his legs, and he is definitely showing his age when he gets up and down.

I like to rotate products, mainly because he gets bored with things. So, when it was time to order a new supplement, I thought I'd give these Zesty Paws Joint Supplements a try. On the positive side, they do have glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM. I know a lot of products tend to be missing one of the two last ingredients, so I appreciate that these have all three. Also, these supplements are made in the USA at an FDA-registered facility. I'm not one to just trust the FDA, but I do feel better about products being made in the USA at such a facility than those made out of the country in unknown environments.

Now, the bottle clearly says these are chewable tablets. Reading reviews, you see some people say their dog eats them like any other treat. Really? First, they certainly don't smell like a treat that would be attractive to any dog. Second, how are dogs chewing these tablets? As mentioned, my dog is huge. Appropriate for his size, he also has some pretty huge teeth and a powerful jaw. He could not chew these. So, I grabbed a heavy duty knife and figured I'd just cut them in half to hide in his food. There is no cutting these in half. They are so thick that I couldn't even get a knife through them.

Since he wouldn't chew them and I couldn't cut them, I ended up grabbing the rubber mallet, pouring some in a plastic bag, and beating them into powder. Let me tell you that I had to put some force behind that mallet to break them down. I add a little powder to the bottom of his food bowl now because I wasn't going to just throw these away. Unfortunately, I'm sure I am probably under-dosing because I don't want to exceed the recommended dosage. Needless to say these supplements will not be purchased again.
