OK, I'm a bit behind the tech-curve perhaps, but having received an Apple iPod Nano 6th generation as a gift a few years ago, I was and remain thrilled. It's not the latest or greatest in terms of features, but it is ideal for me. I work from home, and typically this means a lot of time spent sitting in the same ole' spot for hours on end. Watching TV while I work is too distracting, but a little background music can make the time fly. My little Nano provides me with hours of music in a small package.
I keep it on a small speaker dock next to my desk. Therein is a small problem. Many speaker docks will not work with the Nano, so if you've got one or are picking one up soon, be aware of this fact. It took me a few long nights of research to locate a speaker dock that works beautifully.
The Nano is available in 8 GB or 16 GB, however I have the 8 GB. The unit is very small, weighs just about nothing, and is very portable. There are even watchbands that will accommodate a Nano for those on the go. It also has a built-in metal clip so you can clip it in a pocket and head out the door. While I rarely use it on battery power, the battery lasts up to 24 hours. It's a neat, minimalist unit that works great for my needs.
