As an avid gamer, I am always looking for ways to enhance my gameplay experience. Growing tired of using the standard W, S, D, A, and Control keys on my keyboard to perform repetitive in-game functions, I went looking for a game pad solution. I found the Philips SGC2909BB USB Game Pad Controller for a decent price, although the number of buttons made it look a little bit complicated.

It turned out that the number of extra buttons on the game pad controller was not my biggest concern. In designing the SGC2909BB controller, Philips used a retractable USB cable system. Normally this would be a good idea. In this case, however, it turns out to be one of the controller's biggest flaws.
The USB cable, rather than being a standard round, tangle-proof solution, is instead a flat ribbon cable. Pulling on the cable extends it out of the controller, but because of the type of cable, it continuously loops and tangles. Pressing a button on the front edge of the controller is supposed to retract the cable back inside for storage. However, because the cable loops and tangles, it is frustrating and only works properly about half of the time. Philips normally makes good products. This is not one of them. Steer clear from this controller.
