Pros: affordable, easy to use, fast, stream tv
Cons: needing to use a credit card to pay for apps, using large amounts of bandwidth

When we decided cable was costing too much, we decided to buy a Roku. A Roku allows you to stream TV through Netflix, Hulu Plus, or Redbox Instant. The quality is wonderful, near HD quality.  It came complete with a remote easy to follow instructions. There are hundreds of apps you can download from music apps to movies. Many apps are free or come free with a cable subscription.

For use, because we mostly water Redbox, HuluPlus, and Netflix, this little box is perfect. It allows us to watch the shows we want, and not have to pay the cable company for the things we do not watch. It rarely loses connections from our wireless signal. As an added bonus, if you happen to lose your remote, then they have you covered. There is an app that allows you to use your cell phone as a remote. We have already had to utilize the app a few times.

The price is competitive at about 70$. In fact, we like it so much; we bought two more so our whole house can use a Roku. For a family who thought we could not live without our cable, we sure love the Roku.

I've tried a few different media players over the years, beginning with a great big computer system with multiple hard drives and cables, and on through a series of set top boxes and gadgets. But none has even come close to comparing to the Roku 3. Read more
