I don’t usually buy cleansing wipes, because I like to take off my makeup properly every night. I have my strict routine, where I use a deep cleansing oil and wash my face with a cleanser to remove all of my makeup properly. I have tried out face wipes in the past though, just when I go travelling and for the extremely rare occasions when I’m too tires and lazy to take off my makeup properly. I have heard a lot of great things about the simple skincare range so I decided a few years back to get the Simple Exfoliating Wipe. It was such a waste of money, because the facial wipes felt like sand paper. I tried to rub off my makeup as gently as possible, but it just ended hurting and irritating my skin. After that I haven’t bought facial wipes again.
Simple Facial Cleansing Wipes
A few weeks ago my local store closed down and ended up reducing all their stock to get rid of it. One of the items that I picked up was the Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes. The retail price was almost £5, but I ended up snatching it up for £1.50. Since it wasn’t that expensive I didn’t really care that much whether this product lived up to its expectation or not.
Simple Facial Cleansing Wipes
The Simple Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes comes in a plastic packaging and contains 25 wipes. It claims that it’s “Now Super Soft and removes waterproof mascara”. On the packaging it says multi-vitamins, but there are only 2 vitamins, which are pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E. These wipes don’t contain any alcohol, artificial perfumes or colouring. This product is supposed to be suitable even for sensitive skin.
The wipes are quite large
So last night when I came back from a long day out, I decided to give these wipes a try. I was feeling slightly lazy and I thought that it was the perfect opportunity to finally use the Simple facial wipes. I was wearing water-resistant foundation and waterproof mascara. So it really did put these wipes to the test. I took out a wipe and placed it on my face, so that the ingredients from the wipes would break down the makeup and afterwards I just need to gently wipe the makeup off my face. Well, it turns out that it didn’t do a great job. I ended up using 3 wipes to remove my face makeup and there was a lot of rubbing involved. As far as my waterproof mascara was concerned, this product did not work at all! I mean it smudged off a little bit maybe 10% of the waterproof mascara, but that was it. On top of that the wipes are not “Super Soft” like Simple claims. I found them to be quite scratchy and uncomfortable to use! Definitely not something that is suitable for sensitive skin.
After much rubbing and tugging this is all the mascara I could get off
Overall, this product is awful! I don’t understand why anyone would even buy these terrible facial wipes. It doesn’t happen often that I encounter such a bad product. Don’t waste your money on this product!
