Best Choice Ground Oregano is a wonderful spice to have on hand. I use this spice for so many recipes including chicken vegetable soup, homemade spaghetti sauces, Italian dishes, and it can also be rubbed on meats for the barbeque. For barbequing meat, I like to add the ground oregano to barbeque sauces and then apply it by brushing the sauce on hamburgers, steaks, and even chicken. Using the ground oregano as a dry rub is also a family favorite.
I personally like ground oregano over the regular oregano leaves because it can be mixed more readily into recipes. If I have a recipe that calls for oregano leaves, I will substitute the ground oregano with no problems. The flavor will still be the same and the dish a hit with the family.
Another nice option thing I like about using ground oregano is that it compliments different spices. I will use oregano along with Italian seasoning, dried basil, and bay leaves. The flavor is amazing and does not overwhelm the palate.
Ground oregano is not overly strong and dishes can be cooked longer to decrease the flavor it provides. Adding ground oregano to stewed tomatoes and chili recipes is also another way I use this spice in day to day cooking. This seasoning is a particular favorite of mine!
