Every year my family anticipates fall as the only time we can get Canada Dry Diet Cranberry Ginger Ale. It comes out around Halloween and disappears soon after Christmas. The ginger ale tastes good by iteslf, but when it is infused with a cranberry flavor, it is special. The beverage is very fizzy and slightly tart with the pleasing flavor of cranberry. The color of the drink is very pretty too as it is a very dark pink color.
Canada Dry started in Canada in 1890 founded by John McLaughlin who made and sold flavorings for fruit juices. In 1904 they began to distribute regular Canada Dry ginger ale. Even the non-diet ginger ale is not sweet tasting giving it a dry flavor. Canada Dry says it makes their beverages with real ginger and not just flavoring. The product comes in both Diet and regular and the diet does contain asparatame. It is most often found in a 2 Liter bottle, but in some areas of the country cans can be found. It is hard to find between Christmas and Halloween, but it is worth the wait every year.
The drink is perfect to serve on Thanksgiving. It makes a good mixer with any alcoholic drink that normally uses ginger ale as well.
