I have to admit, I am a person who likes the taste of natural flavors and don't purchase too many processed or prepackaged food or drink items. I usually squeeze fresh lemons and limes to make pitchers of fruit flavored water to keep on hand in the refrigerator. While shopping last week, my son asked me if I would buy this Country Time Lemonade drink mix. He had tried it while at a friend's house and talked me into trying it too.
I am not fond of feeding my family extra sugar and salt so I was a little reluctant but said I would try it out. It was much simpler to make a pitcher of lemonade

by measuring the powdered mix and adding water and the finished product was actually quite natural tasting. What I didn't like was the amount of sugar that was in the lemonade. Each 8 ounce serving has 16 grams of sugar and 60 calories. Considering that I am a natural lemon and water drinker, this didn't sit well with me. We don't buy or consume soda products for the same reason and this seemed to fall into the same category as the soda. Since we already purchased it, I decided that this would be a treat on occasion and not an everyday drink that was left prepared in the refrigerator for the family to drink on a regular basis. Once it's gone, I will not replace it.
I have used the lemonade for making ice cubes to add to flavored water and from that idea the little ones suggested we try making lemonade ice pops. I have started to prepare the drink with less than the recommended amount of mix and nobody seems to mind. Because of the high amount of sugar and the fact that the product is mainly made with artificial color and ingredients, I will not be purchasing it again.
