My family has different preferences when it comes to a good staple pasta sauce. I prefer homemade, but it's not always possible, especially when you're running behind due to work or when you don't have the required ingredients on hand. I like a chunky tomato based sauce, while my husband prefers a smooth sauce. I'm willing to give in on the store bought choices, so I decided to pick up a jar of Ragu after seeing it advertised as a smooth sauce with a thick and rich consistency. My husband doesn't like chunks of onion or tomatoes.
The jar also advertised 2 servings of veggies, which is great for those looking to add extra vegetables servings to their diet. The sauce itself is very thick and flavorful and had no obvious chunks of onion. It had a nice tomato base and it created a hearty spaghetti for dinner.
I have also used Ragu for many other pasta dishes including rotini and sausage. Also, this sauce works well for making meatball subs, pizza bagels, and English muffin pizzas. Ragu does have a pizza sauce for sale, but the price is much higher and the pasta sauce tastes exactly the same. I will continue to repurchase this sauce to keep on hand when homemade just isn't possible.
