Pros: nice flavor blend
Cons: a bit high in sodium

A favorite in this house, Cheez-It Snack Mix is almost always on hand. My husband loves taking a few handfuls to work in his lunch each day, and it makes a quick snack before dinner or with cocktails. There are several varieties of this snack mix, but we tend to stick to the original version. It contains rice balls, pretzel twists, wheat squares, pretzel sticks, 'mini melba' bread toasts, and of course, Cheez-It cheese crackers.

Some of the other versions available include double cheese, white cheddar, and cheddar jack. We typically buy it by the 10.5-ounce box, but it is also available in snack-size pouches and giant party-size bags. If I had school-age kids, no doubt I'd be stocking up on the pouches or mega-bag for snacks and lunches.

A serving size is 1/2-cup, and it is a bit higher in sodium than most people aim for at about 310 mgs. A serving also has 130 calories, so it's not a low-calorie food. Then again, my husband doesn't need to watch his weight, so this works for him.

Overall, this snack mix has a nice blend of textures, and plenty of crunch and flavor. Worth a try if chips are getting boring or for a party gathering.
