Coffee is a hot topic here in Kona, Hawaii. Probably because Kona coffee is something of a celebrity among coffee snobs worldwide. People travel from all over to sample genuine Kona coffee and learn what makes it so special. Okay, so the tropical paradise conditions of Hawaii don't hurt much, but there truly is something special about Kona coffee. That's why we serve it at the bed and breakfast where I work.


When I'm just kicking it around Kona, however, and I want a shot of caffeine, I usually grab a New World Mocha from Columbus Coffee Roasters. I happen to think it tastes better than Starbucks mocha, plus it costs less than Starbucks, so that's a double bonus. I have a few other options when it comes to cold coffee drinks – believe me, every shop some variation of coffee – some of them even have a 10% blend of kona coffee, but none of them taste as good as the New World Mocha from Columbus Coffee Roasters.


I tend to buy a couple of these each week, it's just the right kick of caffeine to get me through those long, 14-hour work days. Why bother with a 5-hour energy that tastes like fake nastiness when you can enjoy a cold, creamy mocha?
