Lately I've begun to surprise myself. I had always thought myself a chocoholic, but I've recently begun to develop a certain zeal for jelly beans. These have often been a seasonal favorite around Easter time, but then Jelly Belly developed their notion of gourmet jelly beans, and the love affair has been building over time.

For a good while I was pretty loyal to the 20 Flavors pack. Something about the grapefruit flavor in the tropical fruit pack sounded less than appealing to me, so I would pass it by time and time again. But if I could survive the creepy-yet-endearing flavor of buttered popcorn in the 20 flavors, then surely I could move beyond the temporary tartness of grapefruit for the sake of research.

Curiosity eventually overtook me, and I tried the tropical mix. Then I tried it again. And again. And another bag is calling to me even now, within arm's reach. Still, more research is required. I just can't decide which pack is my favorite – this could lead to a co-mingling of flavors and a whole new level of taste sensation. In fact, I'm pretty certain that's bound to be the eventual outcome of this candy conundrum.
