Leave it to a professional golfer to invent the perfectly balanced drink for a hot summer’s day. Arnold Palmer really knew what he was doing when he would order up his iced tea blended with lemonade. Some folks swear by sweet tea, some folks swear by lemonade, still others swear by ridiculous amounts of lemon added to their iced tea. Arnold Palmer, on the other hand, was a true maverick when he ordered up a beverage of half iced tea and half lemonade - the perfect balance of sweet and tart, crisp and refreshing. The drink itself became so iconic that one needed only to order an Arnold Palmer and the half-tea/half-lemonade beverage would find its way to a tall glass delivered to the thirsty patron. But somewhere along the lines this tasty thirst-quencher grew up. The addition of whiskey turned this innocent brew into a fully fledged adult beverage. Then the geniuses at Spiked picked up the idea and ran with it, and if you ask me, they scored a hole in one. Served up in a pint-sized can, weighing in at 5% alcohol per volume, this cool and refreshing drink is almost too good. It goes down almost too easy, and if I bought more than one can at a time I could probably find myself in a whole heap of trouble.
