Earlier today I stopped into my favorite watering hole to await the arrival of my bestie for a pau hana (translation: after work beer). Normally I would go for a dark beer, like a Guinness, or something stout. This day, however, I was looking for something light and refreshing with a citrus burst.
Honestly, I wanted a Blue Moon, but my bar tender didn't have that on hand. Shock top wasn't even available as an alternative, so I asked the bartender for a suggestion. The next closest thing was the Hana Hou Hefe from the Waikiki Brewing Company. Feeling brave and bold, I decided to give the frosty beverage a chance. It was a hot day in Hawaii after all.Let's just say I was not disappointed. I found Waikiki Brewing Company's Hana Hou Hefe to be refreshingly light with a delicious citrus twist. Nothing too strong or demanding on the tastebuds, it was the perfect taste of sunshine on a hot, sunny day in Hawaii. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I ended up having three rounds instead of my usual two. The price was just right for my budget, too. I'm sure I can get it for less at a grocery store compared to a bar.
