I do a lot of work from home. As a freelancer I usually have quite a few files and folders that I need to keep track of. Normally I would put them in Dropbox, Google Drive, or some other cloud service. But this can be cumbersome. Not only does it take time to upload everything to a cloud service, but if I'm away from Internet, I am just completely unable to access my data at all.
I am also a musician. I love playing a variety of instruments, and singing. You can even find my ugly mug on YouTube, if you wish. Uploading audio and video to a cloud service? Forget about it. So instead, I use the Liztek USB 3.0 Vertical Hard Drive Dock.
Liztek USB 3.0 Dock
This dock allows me to take any SATA hard drive, just drop it in and wait a second for my Mac to recognize the disk, then I can copy all of my data to the drive. One the data is there, I can simply eject the drive and remove the disk from the dock. This makes my data about as safe as it can be, since I don't have to worry about any sort of crash or failure, as the disk is not even plugged in.
I highly recommend this solution to anyone who is concerned with their data safety.
