Our entire household uses lavender essential oil for various reasons. I like to dab some on as perfume because it smells dreamy, and the aromatherapeutic effect is very relaxing. My daughter rubs it on the soles of her feet when she goes to bed because apparently the soles of your feet are very porous, and the lavender reaches your bloodstream more quickly, and it knocks her out. Plus her room smells great! It’s also got great antibacterial properties, so you can use it on cuts and scrapes. It feels great on sunburn. We put it in the bath. We’ve made homemade lip balm and used it there too. It’s a really useful household item, and we never get tired of the smell.
You can spend a lot on essential oils. When we first discovered lavender essential oil, I was buying tiny 10ml bottles at the local fancy grocery store and spending a fortune. When it became clear that my daughter’s nightly foot rub alone was going to wipe out a bottle every couple of weeks, I went online and found Now Essential Oils. They offer a much bigger bottle, for starters. And their price is much cheaper! The quality of the oil seems much the same as the more expensive brands. We’ve only tried the lavender, so I can’t speak for all the different oils they make. But we really like this one!
