I'm new to spray painting everything. So, when I decided to refinish my chandelier, I opted for spray paint instead of the usual paint. Valspar had a good recommendation online, so I went with their premium enamel because it has paint and primer in one.
The can says that it works well on metal and I don't need primer beforehand. So I sprayed my brass chandelier and even on the first coat it covered quite well. The only issue I did notice while spraying, however, is that it is really hard to spray. You have to put a lot of pressure on the trigger just to get the paint to come out. But, once you do, the flow is very even and the coverage is good. Just like the can guarantees, it does dry really quick and evenly. I was pretty impressed at the coverage. It took two coats and probably about 2/3's of the can of spray paint to cover my medium-sized chandelier. The paint stuck really well though, I haven't seen it chip or scrape off -- which usually happens when you paint metal.
I think if they rework their spray nozzle so it doesn't require so much pressure to get the paint out, it would be the perfect paint. Also, it was cheaper than the other brands at Lowe's. So for the coverage and the price, you can't beat that. I would recommend it to my friends, regardless of the trigger issue.
