I recently purchased my LG Electronics 49LB5550 LED TV as a gift for myself for Christmas. The price was too low to resist. I have sold TVs at a retailer in the past and know LG to be a good brand however, I did do my research to make sure that my good deal really was a good deal. I replaced an old Toshiba that finally gave up the ghost after about 15 years and knew I wanted something that would last.
I searched around and found the LG Electronics 49LB5550 49” TV at Walmart for a low price. I had been putting off buying a TV because of the expense but this was too tempting to pass up. The reviews I read were good, touting a top notch picture and a few bells and whistles. It is not as high level as a Smart TV but certainly fine for my use.
The first thing I noticed when taking it out of the box was the weight. It was about as light as I had expected and was pleased at not having to move around an old set any more. Set up was easy enough. The only small complaint I have in that area is that the guide says to lay the TV flat to attach the stand at the bottom. That’s not possible as the stand sticks out in front so that the set has to be balanced precariously while the legs are attached. Just a minor annoyance.
I instantly powered on the set to see the picture. There are many adjustments as one might expect but it was nice to have the option to choose particular settings for Cinema, Game shows, Sports, etc. The same can be said for volume. The sound is not top notch but is still pretty good for the average living room. At some point I will add a sound system to it.
The overall picture clarity is clear. I am still fumbling with some adjustments depending on which show I watch but am pleased overall.
The remote is a bit small which means I have already lost it in the sofa cushions a few times. I also have to use my DVR remote which is somewhat annoying but I’ll get them all synced up.
All in all, I am quite pleased with the set and would definitely recommend it to a friend for purchase.
