Pros: extensive game library, great graphics, hdmi options
Cons: games get scratched easily

If you have a serious gamer in your family, you know how popular the Xbox 360 is. With its wide variety of games and controllers, it is one of the best consoles out there. I bought this console for my nephew for his birthday 6 months ago, and he plays with it constantly. The Xbox 360 comes with wireless controllers, so it is very easy to use from anywhere in the room. Unlike other consoles, you do not have to be 10 inches from the console for it to read your controller. I found this to be very convenient, and easy to use. Especially when you are feeling lazy and just want to sit and play your Batman game.

Another reason why the Xbox is so popular in our house, is the wide variety of games available, especially for teens and under. I find that other popular consoles do not offer such a wide variety, especially for the younger players. I like that the Xbox also has plenty of accessories to make your game playing even more enjoyable. I like that there are rechargeable controllers, and there are even some wired controllers that come in many colors. They are very customizable, which is great.

The console itself is not heavy, but do not dare touch it while a game is inside and running. I made that mistake once, and learned the hard way. Turns out that if you move the console while the game is playing, you ruin the game completely. You cannot wipe it, or put that scratch-off magic lotion on it, because it simply will not work. Once you get a hang of this, it is pretty easy to care for. Just a simple wipe down with a dry cloth, and you are done! Unless there are sticky fingermarks, a simple dusting will suffice.

The controllers use AAA batteries, and if your kids are avid gamers, then I would recommend using rechargeable batteries. It is a wise investment, trust me. There are also wired controllers available, in case you do not want to be buying batteries all the time. The wired controllers are not that bad, you just cannot move to another place while playing. Slight inconvenience, but I would consider these if you are looking for a cheaper replacement. Wired controllers are typically about $15 less than the wireless controllers, so you pick.

The Xbox is easy to connect to the TV, and does not require any assembly. It does require you to create a profile, and add some brief info when you first turn it on. Nothing too difficult, especially if you have done this on another console. Once you do this, and you place your game on the slot, you will be able to see where the game appears on the screen. It is not like any regular console. On the Xbox, you will find a small icon on the top left corner of the screen, with a little picture and the title of your game. Easy stuff indeed.

In the past, I had a Sony Playstation video gaming console, and I liked it pretty well, until I decided to get an Xbox. The main reason I decided to get the Xbox was because most of my friends had one and I wanted to be able to play with them. Read more
