Have you ever trained a five-year-old boy to use the potty? If you have, then you know exactly what I mean when I talk about the BANG! in the bathroom. Little (and not so little) boys (and girls) have a tendency to let that toilet seat slam down instead of gently lowering it back to the porcelain. Sometimes, you can hear that thing slam shut over the entire house. That is, you can hear it if you don't have a set like the Kohler Quiet Close Toilet Seat. If one of those has been installed in your bathroom, even the most rambunctious little guy can't get it to make a sound.
Kohler's seat comes in a wide variety of colors and in both round and elongated sizes. It's as easy to install as any other replacement seat, with one exception: instead of installing it in the closed position, you install it in the open position, then let gravity take its course. The seat takes four or five seconds to close whether it's just the lid or the lid and ring together. Kohler designed the seat to fit either of the common elongated styles; you just rotate a grommet arrangement depending on whether yours is the longer or shorter size.
With this seat in place, no one gets awakened in the middle of the night when the lid slips out of a sleepy hand. I'm pleased.
