I love my giant slow cooker, but there are days and meals that do not need a large appliance. My significant other surprised me with this and I am so pleased with it. There are many times where I want to make something just for me, something I know that no one else will eat and I don't want to use the big cooker. One of my favorite things to make in this slow cooker is broth. After I pick a chicken mostly clean, I toss it into this crock pot with a little bit of water and leave it on low overnight. Bam! Next morning, chicken broth.
This slow cooker has four options: off, keep warm, low and high. Think of this as high, medium and low. The high cooks things much faster than recipes say it will.. probably about an hour or two faster. Pretty convenient if you forgot to put stuff in this at 8 am. After it has heated up fully, it takes about an hour to completely cool off, so if you want to put the entire thing into the fridge, turn it to off at least an hour before you want to touch it. The keep warm feature stays hot, so don't expect this to be warm to the touch. No way, you will still burn your fingers!
The 1.5 quart does exactly what bigger slow cookers do, just in small portions. I like to make rice and sometimes soups in this cooker, especially if it is just for me. I would think one of the best things about this slow cooker IS that it is small. The bigger ones are hard for me to maneuver and cleaning them is a pain because of how large they are. This one is easily cleaned in the sink without taking over the entire area.
