When I say that a Vitamix will change your life, I truly mean it. As a raw vegan, I pretty much only eat fruits, veggies, nuts, and seeds. For a long time I got by just fine with a blender and food processor, but when my trusty blender died, I decided to finally splurge on one of these appliances I had wanted for years. It was seriously the best investment ever.
Okay, so it is a little bulky on the counter and the thing is really loud, but I use mine four to five times per day, so it is worth hogging the counter space. There really is not anything this "beast" cannot handle. For example, this morning, I made fresh almond milk for my smoothie, and then I made a green smoothie (addicted to spirulina and kale). After a hike, I pureed fruits to make fruit leather. Then, I ground nuts, dates, and coconut to make the base for a raw coconut cream dessert.
At dinner, I made fresh tomato tahini dressing, and I'm about to make some ice-cream out of frozen bananas and mangoes. I have also made nut butters, as well as raw soup. By the way, the friction from the blades is so powerful that you can actually heat soup in it, so if your goal is to make raw soup, do not let it blend too long, or it will start cooking!
Cleanup is a breeze. You never have to physically wash this thing, and risk getting cut by the blades. Just rinse, add a drop of dish soap and a bit of hot water, turn it on high for a few seconds, and rinse out the soap. That's it! If you are on the fence about splurging on a Vitamix, just do it. There is zero regret to be felt about this purchase.
