I receive a monthly subscription box of beauty products and this month was excited to see that my package included a sample of How 'Bout The Apples Cheek & Lip Cream from trendy California-based brand The Balm. I had been longing to try this brand and the full-sized products are pricey (a six-colour How 'Bout Them Apples palette is $32, I paid $13 for a box of 5 items).

The sample I tried contains the shade "Pie" a rosy, warm pink which I found suits my pale, cool skin-tone.
"Pie" Lip and Cheek Cream
I applied the cream to my cheeks and lips using my finger tips, as suggested on The Balm website. Cream type cosmetics tend to have one of two problems - either they are a nightmare to blend which leaves you looking streak, or they crease/rub-off quickly meaning that constant reapplications are necessary. With How 'Bout Them Apples, I experienced neither of these problems. The cream was blended perfectly on my cheeks for a natural , healthy blush and stayed in place all evening. I did need to apply a couple of times to my lips after drinking, but I find that is the case with most lip-sticks and glosses.
In addition to being pleased with the results offered by this cheek and lip cream, I am absolutely in love with the adorable and practical packaging. The small, magnet closure case features a quirky vintage pin-up illustration on the outside, and a hot cowboy on the inside! For me, it is the perfect finishing touch for a divine and versatile beauty product!
