I've been using an eyebrow pencil on my brows for ages now, but after seeing how much softer a look you can get with powder, I thought I needed to try it out for myself. The first thing I noticed about The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit is how much unnecessary space it takes up. It's the size of a blush compact, but inside only 1/3 of the space is actually the powder, and the rest is the space for the brush and then just empty space. I really don't understand why the compact itself couldn't have been half the height it is. It comes with a mirror, and as mentioned before, brushes to apply the powder.
So much excess space in the compact.
Fine tipped brush with the lighter shade for lining
Angled brush for filling in with the darker colour
There is one fine tipped brush for lining the brows, and then a thicker, slanted one to fill them in. The idea of the brushes is good, except the fine tipped one is too flimsy to actually work well for lining. You just can't get the right precision. It needs to be firmer, or shorter, or harder somehow. The slanted brush is better, but because of the tiny size, it's hard to grip just right. I had much better luck once I switched to a full size brush. It's nice to have the brushes for travel, I guess, but they're just not very effective.
The fine tipped brush is too flimsy
A lined and filled in brow makes a huge difference!
The shades work very well for my brows!
The shades of the powders are great, though. I went with 03, the darkest shade, because my brows are naturally dark, and without any reddish tone to them, so the lighter shades wouldn't have matched very well. I do find the lighter shade can look a bit too red for my brows if I use too much, but when used sparingly, it matches pretty well. The darkest shade is perfect for me, and I could probably do my whole brow in just that shade, but if I blend the two I can get a slightly softer look. My brows definitely look a bit softer using the kit, but because it's powder it can rub or smudge pretty easily, so I might have to invest in some kind of finishing spray.
I love the look I get using a brow kit instead of a pencil, but I think there are better ones out there.
