A quality and versatile make-up palette is pretty much a must due to several reasons. First of all, you have everything you might need in one place so you don’t have to rummage through your make-up boxes, shelves and drawers. Secondly, it provides you with a gorgeous range of options and combos. Lastly, I simply believe it is a perfect gift for a girl, whether she is going to buy it herself or get it from someone else, since it is always a very handy thing to have.
I received mine as a gift and I was instantly intrigued by a most stylish and artistic packaging. A lot of thought has been put into that, indeed. I’ve never heard of the brand before, and, unfortunately, I can’t seem to find it in regular stores. The good thing, though, is that it can be easily found online where all the products can be purchased and ordered. Moreover, to my surprise, despite their quite impressive and pricey looking presentation and packaging, the brand seems more than reasonable in terms of pricing.
The most important aspect, however, is still the quality and what the palette has to offer. It is absolutely breathtaking! The quality of the eye-shadows is immensely high – it is very gentle and smooth on your eyelids, your make-up feels so light and pleasant, yet, it is pretty long-lasting, which is not quite expected for eye-shadows. The textures and shades are beyond imaginative and creative. I got a limited edition of the Shanghai Collection, which, logically, showcases most exotic, sultry, mysterious tones and combos, but Catrice Cosmetics has much more to offer in terms of palettes, as they also have The Paris Collection, The San Francisco Collection, etc.
The packaging is done in a very artistic and most appealing way
From shimmery, gentle, enchanting and most delicate pearly options (Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower) to daring, extreme, wild, perfect-for-a-night-out ones (Transrapid, Cloud & Bar), this palette has to offer everything. Moreover, it has two lovely blush shades, an eye pencil and an eye-shadow brush with two options (sponge applicator and an actual brush) so that you can achieve that subtle smoky-eye effect. I’d recommend using the applicator for the base shadow and the soft, gentle brush for the top, darker one that is to achieve the “smokiness”. On the bottom of the palette box you will find suggestions and instructions on how to achieve certain looks and effects which only contributes to the already amazing quality of the packaging and the product overall.
Eye-shadows have a rich, dazzling and gorgeous effect
The creativity and imaginativeness put in this particular line cannot cease to astonish me. From very intelligent and witty names in the palette that correlate to Shanghai’s actual landmarks to very practical design of the packaging (you can carry it anywhere without worrying that something might spill or break) to just jaw-dropping colour choices. I haven’t come across such exquisite shade options and mixes in quite a while. When applied, the make-up looks lavish, professional and extraordinary. If you want to make a statement with your appearance, this palette will certainly assist you in that!
For the price that is super reasonable, I wouldn’t think twice! As a matter of fact, I am intending to order another Big City collection soon – both because I am just in love with this line and also because I am more than curious and impatient to try out their other marvellous colour combos.
The overall look is exotic and luscious with a touch of mystery to it
