So this was a bit of an unexpected purchase for me. I wasn’t actually looking to buy a new eyeshadow palette. I was at the airport just browsing the makeup section of the Duty Free shops when I came across the Urban Decay counter, where the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette caught my eye. I haven’t followed Urban Decay in a while and didn’t know about any of their new releases. I felt like after their original Naked Palette they were trying to use the hype and just create palette after palette, but nothing too useful. I did get the Naked 2 Palette, which I have hardly used, because it is pretty much like the original palette.

Urban Decay also came out with the Naked 3 and the Naked Smoky Eye Palette, which in my opinion are overrated. Then they came out with the Naked Basics Palette. Although I was looking for an all matte eyeshadow palette I felt the shades where a miss for me, because I wouldn’t have used 3 out of the 6 shades anyway. So I felt like they haven’t brought out anything that caught my eyes. But when I saw the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette I was intrigued.

This palette contains 12 eyeshadows, which are all neutral matte shades. Unfortunately, they didn’t have a tester or display item, so when I bought it was a leap of faith. I was hoping that the colours would suit me, but from the picture it looked really promising. I paid £32.75 for the palette and as it turns out it costs normally £38 in stores.

The Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics Palette comes in a square rose gold packaging. While I love the design of this palette, I am not too keen on the material. It feels quite cheap in my hands. I also wish they had made the palette a little thinner to make it more travel-friendly. When you open the palette, there is a huge mirror inside, which I quite like, although I hardly use mirrors in eyeshadow palettes I think it will come in handy when you travel. On top of that, there is also a double-ended eyeshadow brush included. To be honest I am not a fan of the Urban Decay Eyeshadow brushes. I feel like they are too stiff to blend the products in nicely. Other than that I have no complains. The colours are very pigmented and look gorgeous. I don’t think I will get much use out of the shade Pre-Game, but all the other colours I will definitely be using for my tutorials.

Overall, I think that this is a great eyeshadow palette that will work for all skin tones and ages. This is the perfect product for everyday use, if you want to create a natural makeup look. It’s great for school, work and just any occasion in my opinion. I can highly recommend this product to anyone who has been looking for an all matte neutral eyeshadow palette.
