Pros: afforadable, great colour range, just as good as high-end polishes

I don’t have a lot of nail varnishes and the ones I have were pretty expensive. I have used the Nails Inc Gel Effect polishes, which are priced at around £14, but since I don’t use a lot of it I thought it would be worth splurging. Plus I absolutely love the colour Kensington High Street. It’s a deep wine red colour perfect for fall and winter. Anyway, I thought that spending a bit more on a high-end nail polish would also mean that it wouldn’t chip so easily and therefore last longer on my nails. I guess I couldn’t have been more wrong. No matter how much I spend a nail polish and regardless of base coat and top coat, I manage to chip my nail within 5 hours. Usually it’s either my index finder or my thumb, but I’ve just come to live with it. I do a lot of stuff with my hands so I’m not surprised anymore.

I decided to buy the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine, because I have previously heard a lot of great things about this brand and since the Gelly range was on sale for only £2.50. I decided to pick up a little bottle. I ended up getting the shade Sugar Apple, which is a light pastel green/turquois colour. I have to say I absolutely love this shade. It’s so pretty and cute, although I have to admit, that I should have picked up another shade since it’s autumn now and a deeper colour would have been more suitable. But then again I’m definitely going to use this colour for Spring and Summer.

This is how I apply this nail polish. It’s pretty straight forward and I start off with a base coat. After that I do 3 layers of the Sugar Apple coat before sealing everything with the Seche Vite Top Coat. I have to say that the colour payoff is amazing and it looks incredibly beautiful. I had this nail polish on for about 2 days, before I removed it and in that time it hadn’t chipped at all. I did make sure to be extra careful when I was doing my chores though, but nevertheless I was quite impressed.

As far as the finish goes, it has a glossy look, but I don’t think that it looks like a proper gel finish nail. That doesn’t bother me though, because I’m still super happy with the results and with the longevity of this nail polish.

All in all, I can highly recommend the Barry M nail polishes. They are well worth the money and I will definitely go back to get some more. Boots and Superdry normally have promotions on Barry M items all the time, so I’ll make sure to go then. If you are new to nail polishes or you don’t want to spend a ton of money on nail polishes, but still want great quality, then you should check out Barry M! They have a large range of different nail polishes and tons of colours to choose from.
