I bought these shoes for my son in college so he could walk around the dorms without having to put on his socks and shoes all the time. I thought the openness of the shoe would help keep the foot aired too. My son came home for Thanksgiving break today, and these shoes are done. He said they don't dry at all if they get wet, and they smell awful. Me, being mom, checked to see just how much he was exaggerating. Big mistake. They really do smell terrible.
The slide shoes themselves are very comfortable. They have a nice cushion bottom with textures, so your feet aren't sliding around everywhere. The band across the top is fabric on the inside, leather on the out. This definitely helps keep the top of the foot from getting rubbed raw when wearing them for long periods.
I have washed these in laundry detergent, Dawn soap, and attempted to deodorize with baking soda. All attempts to get rid of the smell have failed, I'll be finding him new slip ons before break ends.
Overall, they aren't a bad shoe if you never get them wet with water or sweat. Basically, not a good fit for a college guy.
