It isn't often that a move comes along that I don't get bored with within a few minutes. Since so many different movies are made each year, it seems as if many of them are just rehashed stuff that I've already seen a million times before. Edge of Tomorrow, starting Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, however, was a breathe of fresh air.
Edge of Tomorrow
Edge of Tomorrow is a military science fiction film that focuses on the fight for human survival (don't they all?). An alien species is hell bent on destroying us (again, aren't they all?) and it's up to an army of soldiers with super high-tech gear to defeat them. Unfortunately, it's just simply not as easy as it sounds.
Tom Cruise is a washed up soldier forced into a role that he doesn't want.. go fight the enemy. Needless to say, he doesn't make it very long. But that, of course, isn't the end of the story. You see, when he dies, he resets. And resets. And resets again. He keeps doing it, learning a little more each time, until finally he an defeat the enemy with the help of Emily Blunt.
This is a fantastic watch, and I highly recommend it to any SciFi fan.
