If you cannot tell by the nearly empty bag, my dogs love Blue Buffalo Turkey Bits. I typically keep these in my pocket on hikes for a little treat while we are on the trails. However, I do use them for training, too. I love that even when it is hot, they do not start melting or get sticky in my pocket or treat bag.
Also, they are really small and have barely any calories, so you do not have to think twice about giving them out several times a day. One of my dogs has a sensitive tummy and these never bother him. There is no corn or wheat in them. The first ingredient is deboned turkey, which is a high-quality protein source. A few other ingredients include whole ground brown rice maple syrup, oatmeal, salmon oil, and flaxseed oil, so these bits are a nice source of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
These are not just for adult dogs either. I have given them to puppies that I have fostered and they love them, too. In fact, the salmon oil is a great source of DHA, which supports cognitive development.
Blue Buffalo makes several other flavors, too, including Savory Salmon, Tasty Chicken, Tender Beef, Banana and Peanut Butter, and Blueberries and Yogurt. None of my dogs are crazy about the salmon, and only two of the three like the blueberry ones.
Do I wish these were cheaper? Absolutely! However, you get what you pay for. This is a great treat with no by-products, so I am happy to spend a couple extra dollars for a quality product.
