I bought this when my kittens were going through the phase of starting to learn how to scratch. I bought them several corrugated cardboard scratching posts, and they did use them, but they also thought it was okay to scratch my furniture, my carpets, curtains, and clothes. I bought this for a fair price at Walmart. I was really hoping that this would work, but it didn't. Not in the slightest. It smelled of faint citrus, but it wasn't off=putting to me, so I don't know why it would be off-putting to them. The spray went on finely and in a mist, it didn't make fabrics wet or anything, but it was a little damp after using. Within five minutes, I kid you not, the kittens were already scratching everywhere I sprayed. For a second i thought this scratching deterrent did the opposite and actually attracted cats to scratch in that area. They were not adversely affected by it at all. It might as well have been just water that I sprayed on the surfaces, because it didn't do anything! I was tempted to bring it back to Walmart, but I had used a fair portion of it, so I decided not to. What a waste of money!
