Pros: child determines the path of the story, educational, engaging, inspires creativity, plenty of customization options
Cons: download space required depends on device, not all features work with all devices

I came across the Leap Frog Adventure Sketchers! Draw, Play, Create Leap Pad Game while looking around on the Leap Frog App Center. When I noticed how much space the digital content required, I decided to look into finding out if it was available as a cartridge as well (which it does). Pricing varies depending upon which options you choose (digital or cartridge), as well as when you purchase it. For instance, the app center is constantly offering different deals for content, just like websites and stores offer different sales.

Leap Frog Adventure Sketchers! Draw, Play, Create Leap Pad Game is available for Leap Pad Ultra, Leap Pad 2, Leap Pad 1, Leapster GS and Leapster Explorer. The amount of space required depends upon the device you are using. The Leap Pad Ultra requires 167 MB of space, while all other devices require only 62 MB of space. It is also important to note that the microphone feature is not compatible with the Leapster Explorer. The game teaches your child about creating with technology, art and drawing, storytelling, pretend play, and story elements. It also encourages creativity.

I find that the best part of the game is your child's creation is part of the game. This inspires a sense of pride for their creations as they see them in action. My daughter loves to use the feature where she gets to record her own sounds for her character.

The Adventure Sketchers! Draw, Play, Create game features 9 different levels and 3 environments that allow for a wide variety of creativity. Your child can trace images or create their own. The whole story line is based on what your child wants to do. For instance, when there are obstacles in the hero's path, they can draw platforms or vehicles to cross the kingdom.

Overall I highly recommend the Leap Frog Adventure Sketchers! Draw, Play, Create Leap Pad Game. It is engaging and inspires creativity. Although the game is recommended for ages 5 to 8, I think it really depends more on where your child is at. My daughter is 3 and plays the game. Occasionally she needs help, but overall really enjoys the game.
