Personal information: work-at-home mom to a 1 year old.
Pros: easy to grasp, makes noise, perfect small size
One of the very first toys my son got was a Oball rattle. I received our first ball at my baby shower, and we purchased another ball when my son was about 5 months old. As soon as my son starting grasping toys, we began giving this ball to him. Little fingers slide into the holes easily, which allows even little bitty babies to hold onto the Oball. Because the Oball rattles have tiny beads in them, my son has always loved to shake them.
These balls are waterproof, so we keep one in the living room and one in the bathroom for him to play with in the tub. The lightweight design of the Oball means that it does not get too heavy when wet. It also means that when my son throws the ball in the car it does not hurt anything.
Now at 1 year old, my son still plays with his Oballs on a regular basis. Sometimes he holds one in each hand and just shakes them. Other times, he likes to play roll back with them. The small size of these balls makes it easy to pop one in my purse while we are on the go. They truly are the perfect first toy.
