I’m always on the hunt for the perfect purse, and most of the time, I’m convinced it doesn’t exist. The problem is, everyone has different needs. There are a million bags out there, so I’ve decided the best way to find the perfect bag is to simply not look for it. Instead, I wait for it to find me.
It found me at a travel store up in Washington State. It’s the Ili tote, and mine is a gorgeous black leather with a dark brown accent stripe at the bottom and fun leopard print lining. It reminds me of those English riding boots with the brown tops. The kind you wear when you’re about to chase a fox. But I digress. Back to the purse. I like a purse that’s big enough to stuff things in an emergency, like a sweater, a book, etc. But I hate a purse that is simply a big sack with no organization, and especially a big sack with a black lining where you can’t find anything.
This Ili tote is large enough for my requirements, and it has a clever zippered center divider pocket that goes half-way up, so you have a compartment on either side of this pocket, plus the pocket itself, which is a good size for things you don’t use quite so often, like a check book, gum, a little flashlight, etc. On one side it has two open liner pockets--good for cell phone and pens--and on the other side it has a zippered liner pocket, where I keep my ear buds (I can’t put ear buds in a pocket with anything else, because they get tangled, and when you try and pull something out, it all comes out together in a big clot).
As if that weren’t enough organization, there are also two zipper pockets on the outside edges of the bag at the bottom. These are for easy access to stuff while you’re on the go. You don’t even have to take the bag off your shoulder; you just unzip that little pocket and grab. So far, I’ve used these for keys. To seal the deal, they also include a small leopard-print zipper bag that nestles nicely at the bottom. I use this for make-up, but it comes with a chain so you could use it as a little purse if you wanted to.
This is a wonderful bag, and the price point is really reasonable for leather. It’s held up really well in the month I’ve had it, and I’m pretty hard on my bags. It matches everything and it’s sturdy without being heavy. A+
