Caron Simply Soft Yarn is probably one of my favorites just because it is so delightfully soft. The Party yarn also has some sparkle to it. I am making a ruffled scarf from the black sparkle variety that has silver running through it. Caron yarn is known for its softness. It feels like you are working with a strand of a cloud. It is very smooth and silky and makes garments look very flowing. You don't mind wearing this yarn next to the skin or around your neck because there is no way it scratches even with the metallic thread woven in.
The yarn is 4-ply and 99 percent acrylic and 1 percent polyester. There is 3 ounces or about 164 yards of yarn in a skein, which is less than other types of yarn. It is also a bit more expensive than other yarns, but you can't argue with the quality. The yarn is machine washable and you can throw it into the dryer too without worrying that it will shrink. There are several colors with silver running through them including black, fushia, spring green, royal blue, purple, teal, silver and something off white called snow. The yarn combined with a gold thread are red, a cornflower blue, a brownish bronze, and lilac color.
I would have no problem making a sweater, hat, or scarf with the yarn and I might even make something for a baby, like a hat or booties with some bling to them. I would not, however, make an afghan because the yarn is just too expensive and you would need to many skeins.
