Pros: cheap, easy to find, easy to work with, many colors
Cons: not real soft

Red Heart Yarn is my favorite on-hand yarn. I have several skeins in different colors to grab in case someone needs a quick handmade gift. One of the reasons this is my go-to yarn is the price. It is so much cheaper than other yarns and it is durable too. The yarn is 100 percent acrylic and 4-ply, which gives you the correct gauge every time. The Super saver skein has a little more yarn on it than most skeins of other yarn. There is a whole 364 yards in each skein. You can wash garments made with Red Heart yarn over and over and throw it in the drier because it does not shrink. The yarn can also be dry cleaned.

It is perfect for making winter scarves, hats, and afghans. The yarn is very warm and dense. I don't think I would use it for baby clothing as it tends to be a little bit harsh. It does soften up after it is washed. I do like it to make winter scarves because it is so dense and warm. I have a couple of sweaters that I have made and I have to wear something underneath because it isn't as soft as I would like it to be. The yarn comes in an amazing variety of colors both solid and variegated and you can find it just about anywhere for a really good price.
