I love my KitchenAid mixer. I have had it for about seven years and it looks a little bit beat up, but that is because I use it all the time. It still looks pretty good sitting out on my counter top and it is in my favorite color. You can choose from over 20 different colors of KitchenAid mixers in the Artisan model. This stand mixer is the only one I will ever use. It is dependable and very strong with 10 speeds. Most stand mixers do not have as much horsepower as the Artisan at 325 watts. My specialty is New York cheesecake and other mixers start to smoke when I try to mix up that thick batter. The KitchenAid Artisan has no trouble and mixes it up completely and thoroughly. I have the 5 quart stainless steel bowl that has a nice, strong handle. The handle comes in very handy when pouring cake batter into the pan. I don't know how I did it before I had my KitchenAid.
The standard mixer comes with a paddle, bread hook, and a whip. It also comes with a bowl guard, which I find troublesome and never use. It is supposed to prevent splatters, but it is a real pain to put on and keep on. If you would like to have more attachments, you can buy them separately. There is a pasta maker, meat grinder, and many more that make this machine a must for the kitchen. It cleans up easily and always looks nice and bright. It is just as good making mashed potatoes as it is making that thick New York Cheesecake.
