Pros: great red color, low price
Cons: bad pink shade, doesn't last, too oily

Lipstick should stay where it is put- on your lips. New York Color’s City Duet 2 in 1 Lip Color does not meet that expectation. I recently purchased the color called The Red Hots because I needed an honest true red lip color and could not find one I liked. I should have found a different version.

While it is true that The Red Hots lipstick does have a red side, it also has a horrible pinkish side. According to instructions and advertising, you can combine the red side with the pink side to create a new color effect. I have tried that as well and found it to become a distasteful reddish pink color.

I do enjoy the red lip color alone, as I have found it looks just as an honest red coloring should. In addition, I like the shiny effect that the City Duet 2 in 1 lip color has. But the lipstick itself goes on very oily and smudges quite easily.

The price for these combination lip colors is very reasonable, under $3 per lipstick. So it is worth the purchase if you need a good red lipstick, but not worth to use as a daily lipstick or one that you expect to stick to your lips only.

I wanted a color that were leaning towards being more purplelilac and light pink, but this lipsticks light color is more yellowish on my lips which I don't like one bit. I have 424 The Madison Bronzes. Read more
