Until I discovered BB Cream, I just bounced from foundation and coverstick to concealer and tinted moisturizer, never completely satisfied with the results. Then I discovered this supposed "all-in-one" product that is meant to work as a moisturizer and primer, while also evening out skin tone and controlling oil. It seemed too good to be true, and with other products I tried, it was, but Smashbox's Camera Ready BB Cream with SPF 35 has restored my faith in the wonders of BB creams. The hardest part about finding a good BB Cream is the skin tone matching, especially because I have very fair skin. Most products are too pink or too yellow, too orange, or too dark, and the ones that are somehow supposed to change colour to match your skin are even worse, so when I tested Smashbox's Camera Ready BB Cream in the store and their lightest shade, "Fair," seemed a good match, I was game to try!
One small tube lasts a long time
Best applied with a makeup brush
As flawless as my skin has been. No retouching done.
I shelled out a whopping $50 CAD for this cream, which is definitely the most I've ever spent on one makeup item, but after using it continuously for close to a year now, I can't say it's not worth the price. Not only does the colour match my skin perfectly, but the little 30 ml tube seems to go on forever. I've already got a second one stashed away, but I'm still on my first tube and I use it nearly every single day. I apply it with a brush and lightly paint my skin until I have full coverage, but it doesn't feel heavy or pore-clogging. It feels light on my skin, as if I'm not even wearing a full face of coverage, and looks more natural than any other foundation or BB Cream I've tried. I also provides the best coverage overall compared to other products, where I usually had to follow the cream application with a concealer stick to fully hide any blemishes or spots. With Smashbox, it covers so well that my skin is ready to go after just the BB Cream.
I don't find my skin gets oily throughout the day, which is a huge bonus, and it also doesn't have any kind of weird smell, something I often find with makeup products. The SPF is just another added benefit, so I can use it throughout the summer without having to worry about my face not being protected from the sun.
Although the price of this product is on the high side, and I do like my makeup as cheap as is reasonable, this is a BB Cream worth splurging (or budgeting) for. If you want your skin to look as close to flawless as it can, go for Smashbox. You'll be glad you did.
