I love anything galaxy print. I just think it is so pretty and I have always wanted to do a galaxy print design on my nails, but I wasn't really sure how to go about it. I had tried many times to do a galaxy design on my nails, but they were failed efforts, even after watching tutorial videos. When I was in my local Wal-Mart store, I came across a new kit from Kiss called Galaxy Effects. The kit had everything in it that I would need to create the galaxy print nails that I really wanted, so it seemed like a good idea to purchase it. It was reasonably priced at around $8, so I went ahead and got it.
The kit comes with four bottles of small polish. There is a bottle of white polish, dark blue polish, red polish, and a bottle of glitter overcoat, which will act as the stars. It also comes with a sponge dabber to create the effect and a dotting tool which will also help to create the effect. I applied the dark blue nail polish to my nails first to create the base for the design. The blue is really shimmery. I then used the sponge dabber with the red polish to make a purple colored overlay. The red polish is very glittery and I think it is super pretty. I would even consider using it alone sometime. After dabbing the red onto my nails, I then used the white on the sponge dabber to add some depth to my nails. Once all of that was dry, I went and dipped the dotting tool into the white polish to make small dots for the stars and planets. I finished everything up with the glitter top coat and waited for my nails to dry.
While this is a really nice kit, there are a few flaws. It does take a few times to get the technique down for doing your nails. At first, they may look a little messy and the colors may not blend together as well as you'd want them to, so, you will need to practice a bit till you get the hang of it. Once you have the hang of it, your nails will look really pretty. Another thing I noticed that was a bit annoying to me was how long it took for my nails to dry. I realize there is about four different coats of polish on them, but it seemed to take forever, and even when I did think they were dry, they smudged. That irritated me because I put a lot of work into them to face disappointment.
I would recommend this kit based on the fact that it comes with everything you need to get the galaxy look on your nails. I would also recommend doing your nails in stages, like painting the base coat, allowing it to fully dry, doing the red, etc. so that everything does dry and doesn't smudge. As I said, it takes some practice to get it right with this kit, but it does work. Well worth purchasing for the price!
