Dog beds can be really expensive! Especially if you have a big dog like mine and have to buy extra-large dog beds. He is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, and in his prime, he weighed almost 100 pounds! You can spend over a hundred dollars on a good, gigantic, squashy dog bed at a pet store. OR you can shop Costco and get a good, gigantic, squashy dog bed for less than thirty bucks! This delightfully low price enables us to really spoil our dog, now that he’s getting older. We have two beds stacked on top of each other in our living room (think “Princess and the Pea”) which is great for his old bones. And we have a bed in the back of the car, one in his crate, and one in my daughter’s bedroom upstairs, which is where our dog sleeps. If we were paying over a hundred bucks a pop, the poor guy would be sleeping on the floor for sure.
I’m not sure how Kirkland is able to charge so little for these dog beds. They are great quality. They use really nice fabrics, and the beds come with a zip-off cover that you can wash. They used to put a layer of cedar in their dog beds too, so the dog would have a faint cedar smell lingering around him which was really nice. They don’t do that anymore, but the beds are still great. If we had a small dog, the Kirkland product wouldn’t do us much good, because although they stock different styles all the time, they are almost always really big.
