I may be a work from home mother now, but for over 10 years, I was a regular stand on my feet worker. One of my biggest complaints after an eight or 10-hour day of work was that my feet hurt badly. I finally had a coworker tell me about the Dansko footwear line. She told me they were the best work shoes ever, and after purchasing them, I fully agree.
Dansko has hundreds of work shoes available, ranging from clogs to boots. I purchased a pair of black clogs in the Professional Stapled Clog Collection. When the sales representative was helping me find the right shoe and size, I was surprised that she kept bringing me shoes one size larger than I wear. I thought maybe Dansko runs smaller, but I was incorrect. When trying on and wearing Dansko clogs, the trick is that you want one finger to fit in the heel area while your foot is in the shoe. This gives you room for your foot to swell when you work standing all day, and allows the shoe to move with you, without rubbing your heel and giving you blisters!
Heel Area of Shoe
These particular Dansko shoes are made of leather, and are very stiff and hard. The company puts the pieces of the shoes together using staples, not threaded seams that fall apart. The soles are made with an anti-fatigue rocker bottom, which makes you stand straighter and in a more proper standing position. This in turn keeps my feet from hurting, as well as my back. The shoes themselves last for years, no matter how much you wear them. I have had my current pair for eight years now, and while they are slightly worn on the tops, the bottoms and heels are still in great condition. For the comfort, style, and lasting features, the higher price of the Dansko line is well worth it.
